Videos

Today’s blog is a video version of a blog I wrote back in February called Church 2.0.

Until recently, I had only seen my great grandparents in still photos, but my Uncle Brian had some old silent home films transferred to DVD.  For the first time, I saw my great grandparents interacting with others, smoking, joking, and smiling.  I also saw my grandparents, and what they used to look like before they false teeth and gray hair.  My father was just a little boy.  He and his brothers were wearing Superman suits that my Nana had sown for them for Christmas – even a tiny suit for my dad’s wee baby brother, my Uncle Brian. After watching the vid several times, it occurred to me that everyone pictured in the oldest films, with the exception of my dad, my Uncle Terry, and my Uncle Brian, have passed away.  The vid is full of love and life, but it’s just a little snippet, a thin slice of who they were or the lives they led.  There was so much more to them than a couple of minutes of silent footage, and now they are gone. I take comfort in knowing that the God Who created all things is completely capable and willing to arrange a family reunion.  I don’t know exactly how or when that happens, or what it looks like, but I know that God has purposed to do this.  And He has purposed to do this, not just for my family, but for all the families of the earth.

[God] will swallow up death forever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces …the secret of His will, according to His good pleasure, that He purposed in Himself, in regard to the dispensation of the fulness of the times, to bring into one the whole in the Christ, both the things in the heavens, and the things upon the earth – in him… (Isaiah 25:8, Ephesians 1:9-10)

This is an excerpt from the DVD my Uncle Brian made.

Because of the spiritual emphasis in this short story by people with Alzheimer’s, it seems more than appropriate to post it on www.whatgoddoes.com.

And please consider purchasing an illustrated collection of short stories (each as unique and interesting as the one in the video) by the same storytellers.  In financially backing this project you will be awarded, both tangibly and with a great sense of satisfaction in partnering with an undervalued segment of the population who currently does not have a voice in the public arena.

Today’s blog is a video called “The Unforgivable Sin.”  The transcript for the vid is based on large excerpts from a blog I wrote a little over a year ago, also called “The Unforgivable Sin.”

This is an assignment from my digital media class, which I thought might also be ideal to serve as an “about the author” tab for the blog.  I should have the tab up in the next week or so.  Busy, busy!
